The Chinese Content Associate works within the Chinese Marketing Team of University Communications. Responsible for crafting, translating, and distributing content, the role aims to enhance recognition of NYU Shanghai's educational mission, research endeavors, and community engagement. This entails nurturing a cohesive brand identity and coordinating marketing efforts across various platforms, including internal newsletters, website content, and social media platforms such as WeChat, Weibo, RED, and others.
We are looking for a candidate who genuinely values communication and holds a strong interest in the higher education sector, especially in aligning with the mission and vision of NYU Shanghai. As an entry-level position, diligence, a proactive attitude towards learning encompassing interviewing and writing skills, communication skills, industry knowledge, institutional knowledge, new AI tools, and emerging trends in media and communication are crucial. A high level of proficiency in Chinese writing, comfort in a multicultural work environment, and a collaborative communication style are essential for success in this role.
The main responsibilities include:
- Create various types of Chinese content, such as news articles, feature stories, profiles, event announcements, and social media posts;
- Translate English content into Chinese, ensuring accuracy and linguistic nuance;
- Translate Chinese content into English for further editing and processing by the English Marketing Team;
- Provide innovative translation solutions that maintain the original intent and tone, going beyond literal translation. Occasionally, rewriting may be needed to ensure the text aligns with Chinese conventions;
- Engage with various departments, faculty, and staff to gather information and insights for content development;
- Collaborate with designers, developers, and writers on layouts, newsletter and website design, and other creative aspects;
- Assist in planning and managing the university's Chinese social media channels;
- Assist in content creation, editing, and proofreading for Chinese printed materials.
- Handle other communication-related tasks assigned by superiors.
- Native Chinese speaker with exceptional Chinese writing ability and strong English skills;
- Proven 1-3 years of content creation experience, preferably in the media industry, with strong interviewing and writing abilities;
- Detail-oriented with logical and critical thinking;
- Curious and growth-minded, with a keen interest in higher education stories;
- Sensitive to trends in social media development;
- Diligent, eager to learn, and resilient;
- Collaborative and communicative;
- Proficiency in AI tools, translation tools, and video editing tools is an advantage;
- Ability to thrive in a multicultural work environment;
