JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Supports the safe and efficient operation of University Centrifugal Chillers (up to 2000 tons) and other equipment associated with the chiller plants in accordance with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards.
  • Monitors and helps to troubleshoots the chiller management system that controls the chilled water equipment serving the campus.
  • Supports the monitoring and maintenance of cooling tower water treatment controllers and associated equipment.
  • Performs daily rounds to inspect the chiller equipment.
  • Supports the Sampling and testing of the chemicals as necessary to maintain correct water chemistry for systems.
  • Works in a safe manner and keeps up with OSHA standards and all other applicable federal regulations.
  • Completes preventative maintenance orders, work orders, and documents work performed.
  • Communicates orally and written with department personnel and management for the purpose of supporting the chiller plant operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS: Industrial Chiller Plant Operation experience


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience operating HVAC equipment. Graduation from an accredited HVAC technical school or equivalent experience. May require a valid Georgia driver's license and insurable driving record. Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to bend, stoop and twist. Work environment involves indoors, outdoors extreme weather conditions and high noise areas.

 

NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
