Position Summary
The outpatient child psychiatrist will provide direct outpatient psychiatric care to new and returning patients in a combination of in-person and tele-medicine visits at our clinic locations, complete the necessary medical and billing records, and supervise and collaborate with Physician Assistants and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners as needed, furthering our mission of providing health care in a way that best serves our diverse patient population.
The position reports directly to the Director of Outpatient Psychiatry and Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs.
This position offers a generous base salary and benefits, additional productivity-based bonuses, and a sign-on bonus.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct outpatient psychiatric care to patients for 36 hours per week.
  • Spend additional time as necessary to perform other related duties such as completing medical and billing records, providing patient consultations via telephone or My Chart, conducting patient-specific education, etc.
  • Collaborate with and supervise Physician Assistants or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners as needed (additional compensation offered).

  • Keep abreast of new models and trends in mental health care and use this to ensure we are providing the highest-quality, equitable care.
  • Observe and follow all Washington University School of Medicine policies and procedures relating to outpatient clinical care and all applicable legal, ethical and professional standards.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary and assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Well-informed on best practices in outpatient mental health with experience in an outpatient clinical operation or other setting which otherwise demonstrates ability to work in a progressive practice setting.
  • Ability to collaboratively work with and supervise advanced practitioners in the provisioning of clinical care.
  • Ability to monitor the delivery of outpatient mental health services, which enhance revenue, operate efficiently and effectively, and are responsive to clinical and administrative staff and patient needs.
  • Ability to establish, monitor, and evaluate key performance indicators/metrics and implement plans to intervene, as needed.
  • A practice style that emphasizes teamwork, communication, accountability, collegiality, flexibility, trust, and patience.
  • Personal characteristics, which include outstanding verbal communication skills on an individual and group basis, excellent writing skills, and professional appearance and an executive demeanor with high emotional intelligence.


Required Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess an MD, MD/PhD, or DO degree and hold or be eligible for an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Missouri and Illinois.. Candidate should be certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry, or Board eligible.  BNDD and DEA required.
