Position Information

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Health, Well-being & Safety (HWS) and an integral member of the HWS senior leadership team, the Chief of Staff (COS) is a trusted strategic advisor to the AVC, providing expertise and counsel in all areas within the AVC's purview. The COS provides strategic capacity to the AVC and moves Health, Well-being & Safety’s priorities forward by driving integrated strategy and operations of the enterprise and accelerating progress towards the long-term University strategic plan. The COS works to achieve efficient operational collaboration across the entire Health, Well-being & Safety organization including: 1.) Executive consultation and support to the AVC, including briefings, presentation and research, and providing leadership on high-level special projects and committees; 2) Strategic plan development and implementation, including establishment of goals and metrics and tracking/reporting on progress and barriers; 3) Oversight of internal and external communications and public affairs, including website, social media, articles, newsletters/publications, and coordination with Development and others on communications for external funding opportunities; 4) Community relations; including coordination on legislative initiatives and representing the HWS with community, safety, student, and legislative groups; responsible for developing and implementing a strategy for community engagement ; 5) Provides leadership for the planning and execution of HWS wide-scale gatherings (e.g., health fairs, farmer's markets, etc.) and other special events and recognitions (e.g., All-staff retreats, campus-wide education seminars and workshops, leadership retreats, etc.). The COS will serve as proxy for the AVC to internal and external stakeholders and is charged with decision-making on behalf of the AVC.

The salary range for the Chief of Staff is $114,70 - $224,700 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $185,000 annually. We base placement within these ranges on the individual's qualifications as they relate to this position.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Minimum Requirements
