ATTENTION:

The Office of the Chancellor at The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater invites applicants for the position of Chief of Staff and Senior Strategy and Compliance Officer (AD075).

JOB DETAILS:

The Chief of Staff and Senior Strategy and Compliance Officer is responsible for delivering tangible results in response to the challenges and opportunities within the scope of the Office of the Chancellor by serving as a trusted representative of the Chancellor, directing and following up on projects and special events, articulating the Chancellor's vision for the University, and its unique position in the higher education, as well as working with internal and external community partners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Five years of experience advising and supporting senior leaders in complex organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Eight years of experience advising and supporting senior/executive level leadership.
  • Five years of experience in higher education.
  • Experience developing and executing collaborative institutional strategic planning.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suit/Office 365.

  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as a senior advisor to the Chancellor and Primary point of contact between the Chancellor and other stakeholders.
  • Serves as the senior strategy officer, providing oversight and management of the institutional strategic plan, projects, events, and initiatives.
  • Serves as the senior compliance officer, coordinating the institutional functions related to Audit, Risk, Compliance & Ethics.
  • Makes decisions and carries out responsibilities on the Chancellor's behalf, coordinating with appropriate staff to ensure effective execution of the Chancellor's priorities.
  • Manages planning for the Chancellor's Cabinet meetings and other meetings to ensure appropriate staff and faculty complete follow-up actions and items.
  • Serves on committees/task forces/working groups as requested by the Chancellor.
  • Respond, in a timely manner, to student, staff, and community concerns, inquiries about issues affecting the university, and questions about campus operations and institutional statements.
  • Collaborates with University Marketing and Communications (UMC) to coordinate and produce executive and internal communications as needed.
  • Serves as the legislative, legal, and compliance liaison between the institution and the UW System office concerning Legislative matters, General Council, Compliance, and other matters related to the Chancellor's Office.
  • Provides oversight and management of strategic projects, events, and initiatives, managing response to timely issues of the day and ensuring strategic goals are being advanced.
  • Provides oversight and guidance to projects and events of high importance to the Chancellor.
  • Supervise appropriate full-time employees within the Chancellor's office.
  • Performs Chancellor's Office administrative and other duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $90,000 - $110,000.
