Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Created in 2012, the Carolina Higher Education Opportunity Programs (CHEOP) office Comprises the NC Health Careers Access Program (NC-HCAP) and TRiO Programs (Upward Bound Program and the McNair Scholars Program). 
Through both NC-HCAP and TRiO Programs, CHEOP Promotes and Maintains Programs, Activities, and Services that Facilitate Access to College, Graduate and Ph.D. Programs, as well as Health Professional Schools for Individuals from Historically Underrepresented Racial and Ethnic Minority Groups, First Generation Status, Rural and/or Low- Income Backgrounds. The Programs under CHEOP Enhance Participants’ Academic Performance, Retention, and Personal and Professional Development to Promote Graduation in Secondary and Post-Secondary Education.
Position Summary
The selected candidate will provide programmatic coordination (pre-college and undergraduate students), planning/development, and implementation support for NC-HCAP’s Science Enrichment Preparation (S.E.P.) Program, Health Careers Club, Health Careers Day on the Hill, and other student-centered programming and activities. The selected candidate will provide support in creating program invoices, track invoices, and provide lead communications with parents and schools concerning registration payments.
 
This work will include research, planning, development, and implementation of student programming in response to student and university needs. Work will often require extensive contact with campus partners, counterparts, and colleagues at other Universities, as well as the campus community and local and/or regional community to explain programming options, processes, policies, and procedures. Work may involve the coordination of off-campus travel for student or employee groups participating in activities and competitions as well as travel to attend college fairs, workshops, conferences, etc. 
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Ability to proactively troubleshoot issues within program area, develop new, innovative approaches to address and improve current and future programs.
 
Must be student-centered, collaborative and facilitate the meeting of organizational goals using a team-based approach. Excellent Written and Verbal Communications, Ability to Multitask, Customer Centered, Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. 
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience in program coordination, planning and implementation. Experience with data entry and reporting.
 
An individual that has experience(s) working with students from Disadvantaged Backgrounds.
