Department Summary
The Department of Finance, Insurance, Real Estate and Law (FIREL) in the Ryan College of Business at UNT supports undergraduate degrees in Finance; Real Estate; Risk Management and Insurance; Financial Planning; an MS degree in Finance, an MBA degree with Finance concentration; and a Ph.D. degree in Finance. The department consists of eighteen tenure track/tenured faculty, three clinical faculty, three lecturers and three staff. Department faculty regularly publish in recognized journals in their fields. Research is actively supported through subscription to databases such as WRDS, CRSP, Compustat, Bloomberg, MSCI ESG metrics (climate change, corporate and funds), S&P Global Market Intelligence (Banking, Insurance and Real Estate modules), S&P Capital IQ, BoardEx, Thomson Reuters SDC (most modules), Refinitiv IBES Analyst Forecast Data, Morningstar Direct, Eventus and Audit Analytics.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Summary
The Department of Finance, Insurance Real Estate and Law in the College of Business at the University of North Texas invites energetic and visionary applicants for the position of Department Chair and Professor.
The department houses faculty teaching in the disciplines of finance, risk management and insurance, real estate, and business law. The chair is responsible for the implementation of university, college, and department policies and the development, coordination, and administration of all academic programs and activities within the department.
In addition to teaching, scholarship, and professional service, the chair is responsible for departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and supervision of faculty, other instructional personnel in the department and full-time staff of two.

Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate in business administration from an AACSB-accredited institution, with a concentration in finance, risk management and insurance, or real estate, or related field; or J.D. granted by an ABA-accredited school of law.
A distinguished record of quality research, effective teaching, and service commensurate with appointment to the rank of professor.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated effective administrative experience needed to manage an academic department housing multiple academic disciplines and degree programs.
Evidence of effective leadership.
Ability to maintain collegial working relationships with other college administrators and within the department.
Familiarity with grant writing and funding processes.
Experience with the AACSB accreditation process.
Experience working with external constituencies, including alumni and donors.
Experience supervising doctoral students, a student managed investment fund, and a Bloomberg Trading Room.
