Job Description Details:

As part of the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) Operations team under the supervision of the Waterman Director with a dashed line and close working relationship with the Chadwick Arboretum Director, provides leadership, supervision and coordination for the Chadwick Arboretum and Learning Gardens (Chadwick) in Columbus, Ohio; Directly supervise staff and day to day operations for Chadwick; Performs administrative functions related to record keeping systems including use of space; Implement the Arboretum’s vision under leadership of the Chadwick Arboretum Director to support teaching, research and Extension programs; Responsible for space management, equipment management, and purchasing; Coordinate operations, equipment and other logistical support; Serve as the lead curator for the Arboretum that includes but isn’t limited to managing plant collections; Lead staff to carry out maintenance, upkeep, and addition of named gardens, learning gardens, and natural areas; Operates and maintains equipment, including a working knowledge of power and hand tools; Provides leadership for workforce development initiatives such as the internship and apprenticeship programs, advise students on projects, coordinate student experiences such as educational experiences at the Arboretum, field trips and site visits; Assists with formal classes, outreach events, Extension programs, tours, and student activities to showcase the work of CFAES through the Arboretum; Oversee Integrated Pest Management (IPM) system for Chadwick, deploying staff to implement these protocols; Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide support and assistance to other CFAES unit managers, including but not limited to horticulture and specialty crop areas, environmental and natural resources, grounds and turfgrass, and the Olentangy River Wetlands facility; Supervises, coaches, hires, trains and evaluates staff, including students; Supports the Arboretum as a liaison, representing the Chadwick Arboretum Director with industry organizations; Develop and maintain relationships with on ground university partners (e.g. FOD, PARE, CampusParc); Maintains effective communications with industry professionals, college administration, faculty and staff, general public, donors and prospective donors.
