Job Summary:

  The University of Colorado College of Nursing is seeking a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) and/or Women’s Health Nurse-Practitioner (WHNP) for a part-time, hourly (as needed) non-benefitted position. This position includes care provided within the Colorado Correction’s Department at a variety of locations in Denver and surrounding counties. The CU CON faculty practice works collaboratively with community providers. This position is clinically based and includes a Clinical Instructor / Senior Instructor / Assistant Professor (Open Rank) non-tenure clinical practice track appointment within the College of Nursing.

Examples of Work Performed:  

  • Provide care to the gynecologic, antepartum, and postpartum client
  • Provide care in the outpatient setting
  • Educate health care team learners (APNs, medical students, residents) and actively participate in student evaluations.
  • Perform work in a health care environment with some exposure to biological hazards and infectious disease.
  • Actively participate in health plan contracts.
  • Remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.  

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor  or Assistant Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Instructor:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing or midwifery
  • Current AMCB or Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner certification
  • A minimum of one year practice providing antepartum, postpartum, well woman and gynecological care
  • Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State)
    • Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.  

Senior Instructor:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing or midwifery
  • Current AMCB or Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (NCC) certification
  • Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State)
    • Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.
  • Demonstrated leadership in area of practice
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities. 

Assistant Professor:

  • Doctoral degree from an accredited school of nursing or midwifery
  • Current AMCB or Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (NCC) certification
  • Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State)
    • Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.
  • Demonstrated leadership in area of practice.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities. 

 Conditions of employment:

  • Must be willing and able to provide full scope contraceptive services and counseling on abortion services.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain Colorado RN, APN, RxN licenses by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain current board certification by date of hire
  • Must be willing and able to obtain current DEA license within 18 months of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain valid NPI number by date of hire
  • Must be willing and able to obtain valid Colorado Medicaid Provider number by date of hire
  • Must be willing and able to complete CAQH and all credentialing requirements prior to by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain current BLS/CPR certification by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to actively participation in health plan contracts.
  • Must be willing and able to remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a normal patient care environment with some exposure to biological hazards and infectious diseases. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current, active DEA licensure.
  • Experience working high-acuity setting
  • Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary clinical care teams
  • Experience utilizing bilingual skills (Spanish/English) at a conversation level in a clinical setting

  • Exceptional independent judgment to monitor and respond to changes in a client’s condition
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and other members of the health care team
  • Skilled in the use of the electronic medical health record
  • Excellent knowledge of and ability to perform clinical teaching
