Position Summary Information


General Information
Certification Instructors teach CPR for the Professional Rescuer, with First Aid, Adult and Pediatrid First Aid/CPR/AED and Lifeguard Training Classes. American Red Cross Instructor certifications for CPR, First Aid, or LGT are required. Instructors may also assist with in-service training.
Attendance and active involvement at New Hire and Common (August) Training sessions mandatory.
Attendance and active involvement at staff meetings and in-service training as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Certification Instructors will conduct themselves in a way that will coincide with the UREC mission and service ethic
  • Certification Instructors provide instruction for the American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers classes at UREC.
  • Certification Instructors provide instruction for the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED classes at UREC.
  • Certification Instructors provide instruction for the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training classes at UREC.
  • Certification Instructors are responsible for maintaining and cleaning CPR manikins and masks.
  • Certification Instructors are competent in course materials and training equipment.
  • Plans and organizes classes utilizing the general teaching outlines provided by the American Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR programs.

  • Qualifications
    Previous experience teaching American Red Cross safety courses preferred.
    Current American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor or Lifeguard Instructor certification
    Conditions of Employment

    Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
