General Description of the Position

The Central Control Coordinator is responsible for supervising all personnel assigned to the Central Command Center of the Delaware State University Department of Public Safety. This position provides a variety of tasks to include the university parking project (i.e., permits, processing tickets and appeals); university surveillance cameras, card access (identification cards and building access); and other duties as assigned.


Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The following are the functions essential to performing this job. 
1. Performs the pertinent duties of the Central Control Coordinator, customer service, and supervision of that function. 
2. Responsible for university parking. Knowledge of iParq or similar parking management system. 
3. Supervises all personnel while assigned to work in the Central Control group.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
The individual in this job must possess these skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. 
1. Certification or proof of professional testing within 1 year in the areas of wireless calls, CAD, MDTs, AVLS, suicide/hostage intervention, foreign language callers, and workplace violence. 
2. Good knowledge of felony and misdemeanor crime classification and categorization. 
3. Good knowledge and usage of basic grammar and sentence structure. 
4. Good knowledge of Public Safety operations within a university environment as well as the experience of professional dispatching within a nationally accredited police agency.


Qualification Standards

1. Education: Requires a minimum of high school diploma or GED. Associate or bachelor’s degree is desired. 
2. Successful experience: Five years in customer service, public relations or human relations using interpersonal and verbal communication skills, advanced computer skills, the ability to communicate effectively and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds; or any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 
3. Possession of valid motor vehicle operator’s license. 
4. Must pass a background investigation including driving record and criminal history. 
5. Must agree to random and on-demand drug testing as a condition of employment. 
6. Must agree to on-demand polygraph examinations as requested. 
7. Must maintain eligibility for all certifications such as DELJIS, NCIC, LEISS, etc. 
8. Other preferences: Five years of experience is desired as a Dispatcher or service in a nationally accredited police agency.
