Position Summary
This position works in partnership with center directors and the Institute for Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS) as part of the Data Center team to support all aspects of the data center. This position will support the Center by managing communications and project timelines for grant funded work as well as working with the Team to help learners progress in their goals. Additionally, the Center Manager can support grant writing for the Data Center as well as Center collaborators and colleagues.
Key to developing and expanding training content for the Washington University community, this position will have experience in project management, with training and education systems, a history of working with community organizations and/or local public health departments, and excellent communications and teamwork skills.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities



Center Services and Utilization

  • Work with other center staff, ICTS leadership, and university departments to establish training and technical assistance programs and promote utilization of the center.
  • Establish and oversee system for responding to requests for access to and utilization of the center from a variety of university and community partners.
  • Build out the ‘brand’ of the center through various methods including networking, social media, GitHub, and community forums.

Education and Training

  • Provide support for students, trainees, and faculty in navigating clinical research processes & related data assets.
  • Support development of educational content such as videos and webinars to address the needs of the university and community collaborators.
  • Maintain working knowledge of relevant university data assets, policies and procedures including IRB review and approval, electronic medical records and REDCap.
  • Understand the needs of different data center constituents and learners and working with Data Center Co-Directors and ICTS leadership to develop Center programming and activities to fit these needs.

Project Management

  • Design and oversee project management, including an intake process for all center projects and activities.
  • Schedule meetings and document meeting conversations.
  • Assist center leadership with development and implementation of strategies for acquisition, security, management, and utilization of center data.
  • Attend quarterly ICTS Navigators meeting to share best practices to improve service provision and streamline the delivery of resources for ICTS contacts.

Communication and Partnerships

  • Maintain strong relationships with university, government and community partners to share data, knowledge and other resources.
  • Represent the center at internal and external functions.
  • Work closely with the institute communications manager to ensure effective communication to all constituents (faculty, students, community and government partners, and media).

Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

This position works in a hybrid office environment, with some in-person office time required. This position does not have exposure to hazardous materials or heavy equipment. Some travel is required across the University campus and in the community, and limited travel outside the St. Louis areas. This individual may need to serve on-call for technical emergencies involving the operation of the data center.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s in public health (epidemiology, biostatistics, health administration) or related field. 
  • Experience working in university, research, or public agency settings with various partners.
  • Experience developing digital content for educational purposes.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks in a complex organizational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing digital content for sharing and distribution.
  • Experience working with various communities and stigmatized areas of public health.
  • Open and accepting of people who may think differently than you.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to translate technical concepts effectively to various constituents. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills to identify resources and recommend and implement solutions using independent judgment.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three years of professional work experience or equivalent education and experience.

Salary Range
Base pay is commensurate with experience.

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
