The Center for Pain Therapeutics and Addiction Research Position

The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, School Dentistry, is seeking individuals who are interested in a full-time position of a tenure track/tenured faculty, (Assistant, Associate or Professor level) to join the newly established Center for Pain Therapeutics and Addiction Research. 

Applicants must have a Ph.D., or DDS/Ph.D. degree in neuroscience and/or related biomedical sciences, with a strong publication record in Pain Therapeutics and/or Addiction Research, experience working in interdisciplinary collaborative professional environments, and have an independent NIH-funded research program that will complement the center.

The center has a group of 8-10 highly accomplished scientists/ clinicians that study various aspects of pain research. The candidate will be expected to actively collaborate with existing faculty members at the Center/University and to interact with staff and students across campus, and be able to participate in multidisciplinary teams to translate their research findings. The candidate will contribute to the mission of the School and will participate in teaching, and clinical practice if applicable, and function as an active member of the School of Dentistry and The University of Texas Health Science Center.

The successful candidate will have access to several Centers, including an NCI-designated Mays/M D Anderson Cancer Center, NIH -funded Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging, NIA-funded Alzheimer’s Research Center, NCAT-funded CTSA, and others along with a modern animal facility, a flow cytometry, and cell sorter facility, genomics/bioinformatics, an optical imaging microscopy facility, proteomics/mass spectrometry, drug development and other state of the art core facilities.
