Instructor/Research

The UT Health San Antonio, School of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time Instructor/Research, Non-Tenure Track faculty position. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in molecular biology and bacteriology laboratory techniques. They will perform high precision sensitive experiments related to oral and gut microbiome in health and oral diseases, which will support the PI’s ongoing research on the impact of oral health on aging and its potential links Alzheimer’s and other age-related diseases and new translational applications for future clinical treatment. The research instructor will have access to the equipment and materials necessary to conduct the studies and advance the goals of the shared lab of two PIs. They will also contribute to the overall mission of the school, participate in writing of publications study design, and interact with staff and students across campus.

The Instructor/Research will join an established and highly productive research community at UT Health San Antonio’s School of Dentistry which ranks among top NIH-funded dental schools in the world. UT Health San Antonio is the home of several innovative, nationally recognized research institutes including an NCI-designated Mays/M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, NIH -funded Barshop Aging Institute, NIA-funded Alzheimer’s Research Center, and the NCAT-funded Institute for Integration of Medicine and Science. The research instructor will also enjoy access to several state-of-the-art core facilities that include services and instrumentation specializing in flow cytometry, genomics/bioinformatics, light, electron and confocal fluorescence microscopy, proteomics/mass spectrometry and a modern animal facility.
