GENERAL DESCRIPTION | Oversee all activities related to original and copy-cataloging of monographs and dissertations, authority control, and materials processing. Assist with serials cataloging, serials acquisitions and processing, and bindery preparation for the Galvin Library and branch libraries. Manage cataloging and maintenance of e-books and other e-resources. Develop and implement ongoing metadata updates, clean-up, and improvements in the integrated library system. Investigate and enact solutions to connect existing and legacy metadata to linked data initiatives. Oversee, monitor, and maintain control over the work quality of student assistant(s). |
COMMUNICATIONS | Serve as primary contact for inquiries by library staff on issues related to cataloging, acquisitions, and processing of monographs, multi-volume sets, dissertations, and e-books. Coordinate cataloging projects and training for the Graham Resource Center. Participate in cross-departmental working groups that aim to improve the library’s metadata management, user experience, and technical workflows. |
CUSTOMER SERVICE | Respond to all inquiries, regularly update parties on the status of issue resolution, and advise parties on a resolution to the issue or problem when possible. |

Qualifications
Education & Experience | MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited graduate program. Two or more years of relevant technical services experience in an academic library environment preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. |

Knowledge & Skills | Knowledge of AACR2/RDA, MARC, LC Classification and Subject Headings, and Dewey Decimal Classification. Experience with national bibliographic utilities, OCLC, and Ex Libris Alma. Familiarity with bibliographic standards and authority control practices. Knowledge of linked data and other emerging non-traditional cataloging standards and schemas. High computer proficiency. Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and relational databases. |
SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY | Supervises part-time student assistant(s). No direct budget authority. |
Physical Environment and Requirements | Approximately 70% of time performing work at a computer workstation. |

Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibility | In consultation with the department head, establish and monitor departmental workflows including those related to acquisitions, cataloging, bindery preparation, online catalog maintenance, metadata enhancement and linked data implementation, withdrawals, and materials preservation and mending. Maintain statistics on the type and volume of materials cataloged, including electronic materials, and communicate statistical data to the department head and library administrators through reports and statistical analysis. |

Key Responsibility | Oversee the ongoing maintenance and quality control of acquisitions and cataloging records including ordering materials and performing original and copy-cataloging of print and electronic materials in a cooperative cataloging environment. Prioritize reparative cataloging and anti-racist projects in collaboration with library consortium and stakeholders. |

Key Responsibility | Identify opportunities for linked data projects and collaborations with library stakeholders and consortial partners. Identify, enrich, and harvest local metadata, from various schemas, for linked data initiatives. Maintain knowledge of emerging trends and advancements relating to BIBFRAME and the semantic web. |
