Carpenter I

MR04 – Starting rate dependent on candidate’s qualifications and experiences

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Under general supervision performs general commercial construction work, including layout, repair, renovation, and maintenance of buildings and structures. 

Examples of duties include:

• Performs general commercial construction work in the maintenance and repair of floors, stairways, partitions, and windows, following all OSHA and building requirements. 

• Replaces or installs doors, windows, partitions, ceiling tile, and floor tile; constructs door jambs, partitions.

• Installs and maintains office furnishings.

• Builds forms for concrete sideways and pads, pours and finishes concrete.    

• Layout of walls, rooms, doorways, windows, sidewalks and other building components.

• Site layout for project components, i.e. sidewalks, slabs, foundations, pads.

• Works on/from scaffolding.

• Taking measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed.

• Material handling; loading & unloading, delivering, transporting.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum/Required Qualifications (include education, experience, skills and abilities, licenses and certifications):

• Valid Tennessee Driver’s License

• High School Education; 2 years trade school, or 2 years of experience in carpentry trade in lieu of education.

• Applicant must have knowledge of safe work practices and able to perform moderately strenuous work activities.

• Applicant should have the ability to read blueprints and shop drawings.
