The Texas A&M University Career Center provides centralized career and professional development services for undergraduate, graduate, and former students. We provide individualized career advising while also empowering students to utilize self-assessment resources to identify and explore careers, and we assist and support students in gaining relevant experience and pursuing their career goals, whether they choose to seek admission to graduate school or secure professional employment. One of the largest programs of its kind in the nation, the Career Center has been recognized nationally and regionally for our many best practices. What we want

The Career Center is pleased to announce the opening for a Career Services Coordinator, Graduate Students who will be responsible for providing career advising, planning, and programming to students in the Graduate and Professional School at Texas A&M University. Key aspects of the position focus on engaging students in areas of career planning, employer and industry research, job search skills/techniques, developing new and innovative programs, and identifying hands-on experiences and professional development opportunities. This position will research, create, and execute innovative methods of digitally delivering career services to large student populations to include the design, development of models, and implementation of technologies, including online collaboration, live-streaming, LMS platforms, web-based presentations, and virtual instruction. The ideal candidate will work well in a fast-paced environment and will be a team player with experience building successful collaborations.

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelors Degree

  • 3 years of experience  

Essential Duties/Tasks:

  • Career Assistance Programs and Services - Oversees career advising, professional development, and career programming for graduate students. Advises graduate students in areas of career choice and career planning, employer and industry research, and job search skills and techniques such as resume writing, job search strategies (for both U.S. and non-U.S. students), networking, interviewing, and salary evaluation. Researches, creates, and executes innovative methods of digitally delivering career services to large graduate student populations to include the design, development of models and implementation of technologies, including online collaboration, live-streaming, LMS platforms, web-based presentations, and virtual instruction. Supports the Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and collaborates with the Graduate and Professional School. 

  

  • Outreach & Engagement - Serves as a liaison between faculty, staff, students, recruiters, and the Career Center. Meets regularly with faculty and academic advisors. Engages frequently with The Graduate and Professional School. Manages career development efforts for both industry and academia, including innovative events on campus and at hiring organizations’ locations across the region. Creates and implements large-scale programs or events that connect employers by industry area to students, student organizations, and campus events, highlighting career options, and/or address specific areas consistently requested by students. Conducts routine meetings with faculty and staff. Assists doctoral and masters students in better leveraging career fairs to more effectively network and connect to employers. 

  

  • Resource Development - Develops resources that provide career and professional development information for graduate students. Conducts both quantitative and qualitative research to determine the technical and professional skills that students must possess to succeed in their chosen careers, including industry and employment trends, employer expectations, and tools for assessment of students’ mastery of these skills. Develops new resources, both electronic and hard-copy, for students, advisors and faculty. Maintains website content for this population on the Career Center website and develops new content. Develops and implements virtual initiatives to provide greater accessibility to those with limited time outside the requirements of their programs. Contributes to social media and web content regularly for the Career Center and the Graduate and Professional School. Monitors and evaluates career services, policies, and procedures for effectiveness and efficiency, and determines necessary revisions. 

  

  • Support of Career Center Initiatives - Supports the Career Center mission by participating in programs and services including the presentation of workshops and events, walk-in advising, committee work, and weekly meetings. 

  

  • Professional Development - Participates in Career Center, University, and professional organization training and development offerings. Works closely with supervisor in setting and attaining goals established as part of regular performance evaluations. Stays up-to-date with e-learning technologies, data analysis and formatting/presentation of analytical information, latest hiring trends, and student development practices.
