Career Development Coordinator, Davidson Honors College

The Davidson Honors College (DHC) at the University of Montana invites applications for our new Career Development Coordinator, beginning summer 2017. This is a full-time, Letter of Appointment, 12-month position, reporting directly to the Dean of the DHC. The Career Development Coordinator will serve as the leader of the DHC’s comprehensive effort to prepare our students for postgraduate success. A bachelor’s degree is required for this position, though preference will be given to candidates with a master’s degree, extensive professional experience, or both.

Working collaboratively with the Dean of the DHC and other DHC faculty and staff, this position will be responsible designing, launching, and coordinating our new Career Development Program. The Coordinator will help our students identify potential career paths, and develop the credentials, skills, and experiences necessary to pursue those career paths. The position will leverage a growing network of recruiters, alumni, supporters, and other academic and professional contacts in order to connect students with promising research, internship, and employment opportunities. Other responsibilities associated with this position include, but or not limited to: recruitment of DHC students to the Career Development Program, career coaching, resume critique, interview preparation, hosting recruiting events and professional development, and effectively tracking postgraduate placement data.

In all respects, the Career Development Program is meant to serve honors students from all majors on the University of Montana campus by allowing them to connect their academic passions with postgraduate success. The Coordinator will also be responsible for interfacing with existing resources at the University of Montana, including UM Career Services, Internship Services, and other career development programs in Colleges and Schools across campus.

The successful candidate will also have excellent writing skills and oral communication and outreach skills, a strategic mindset, and an interest in making data-informed decisions.
