Position Information

To assist with the Citrus Clonal Protection Program (CCPP) Foundation Facility activities at the Lindcove Research and Extension Center (LREC), Exeter, CA, by developing and maintaining CCPP citrus trees in the field and in protected structures (greenhouses/screenhouses); providing cultural care for citrus tree; providing weed and pest control; providing facility maintenance and minor repair of equipment; installing and maintaining irrigation systems. The successful candidate will need to reside nearby Exeter, CA. Must be able to tolerate work under hot summer conditions in the field and greenhouse/screenhouse and lift up to 50 lbs. Must follow workplace safety techniques, including wear protective clothing, goggles, and a respirator in circumstances that require personal protection. THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN EXETER, CA.

The full salary range for the Sr. Agricultural Technician is $20.89 - $28.72 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Three years of agricultural experience with a demonstrated ability to operate heavy and/or complex agricultural equipment or a demonstrated ability to perform at a skilled level within an area of specialization; and knowledge?s and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. Required
One or more years of experience with citrus trees care (cultural operations) in greenhouse / screenhouse and field conditions Preferred
Experience with grafting citrus trees. Preferred
Experience with harvesting citrus budwood. Preferred
Experience and knowledge essential to the successful operation, installation, and repair of irrigation system. Preferred

Minimum Requirements

Skill in the use of various hand tools.
Ability to read, write and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
Ability to use copmuter for basic functions, such as email, zoom, word and exel, and use of UC and CCPP online sytems


Preferred Qualifications

Skills in minor construction and maintenance tasks, including carpentry, plumbing and electrical work to maintain and repair facilities.

Knowledge of citrus pests and diseases and their control practices.

Ability to understand pesticide label and perform basic arithmetic calculations for pest control.

Ability to perform maintenance and minor repairs on farming equipment.

Ability to communicate in Spanish.

Knowledge of citriculture: varieties, plant care, irrigation, fertilization.
