Job Summary
The Campus Kitchen at the University of Kentucky (CKUK) is recruiting motivated, energetic, and responsible students to support summer research projects.  Student workers will assist with data collection with an older adult population receiving meals from CKUK at congregate sites as well as organization and reporting of findings.  Current graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Kentucky are eligible for this position.  Student workers are expected to be able to work at least 5 hours per week between May 6 and August 23, 2024 with additional hours during data collection (late May – mid June).  A mandatory training session will be held in early May. Compensation for undergraduate students is $11.11 per hour and for graduate students is $15 per hour. Time must be recorded and approved each pay period. Pay is issued bi-weekly via direct deposit.

The responsibilities of the Campus Kitchen Summer Research Assistant student worker position include:
  • Participating in the in-person data collection with older adults at two local congregate sites.  Data collection includes surveys, 24-hour dietary recalls, and anthropometric measures.  Student workers will assist with the data collection and recording.  Following data collection, student workers will assist with the organization of the data.
  • Assisting with the distribution and collection of survey data for college students volunteering and/working with CKUK.  As well, collating, organizing, and analyzing the survey results.
  • Utilizing diet analysis software to analyze the nutrition information provided by meals as part of CKUK summer operations.
  • Support faculty and staff leading these research projects with dissemination of findings through poster/oral presentations and peer-reviewed journal articles.  Student workers will be encouraged to present this research.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Current undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Kentucky, dependable and responsible, strong communication and organization skills, a desire to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, past experience volunteering or working with CKUK is beneficial, but not required
