CAMP Peer Mentor - Institutional Student Worker

The University of North Georgia is looking for CAMP Peer Mentors that will serve as role models for CAMP students. They will be responsible for facilitating CAMP study hall and cohort meetings, and sharing with CAMP students their experiences as former CAMP students and current UNG students. Peer Mentors will serve as orientation leaders and aid in move-in activities for housing students. Peer Mentors should be able to serve as referral for students by being knowledgeable about CAMP and UNG and its student resources. The 8 hours per week will be spent in workshops training to lead Cohort Meetings, monitoring study hall and reaching out to CAMP students to check in and see how they are doing in face to face, phone, or remote video meetings. Peer Mentors will report to the Retention Coordinator and must have daytime availability to attend and lead cohort and learning community meetings.

  • Role Model appropriate student conducts and habits.
  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing for the duration of participation.
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in the minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
  • Contact & Build Rapport with CAMPers throughout the semester via face to face, phone or video scheduled meetings.
  • Report to Student Success Coach through monthly one on one coaching meetings.
  • Day time availability - 8 hours per week.
  • Must be available 2 weeks before the Fall semester 2024 for Peer Mentor Training and CAMP orientation.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
  • Display excellent time management skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, evidence of a positive CAMP and/or UNG experience, and an enthusiastic and engaging personality.
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in the minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.

  • Former student involvement experience preferred.
