CAD Designer and Modeler Technician

Position Summary:

We invite qualified candidates to apply for our CAD Designer and Modeler Technician opening!

As a CAD Designer and Modeler, you will be an integral part of our sustaining engineering and design teams, contributing to the development of innovative products and systems and the sustainment of legacy systems. Your proficiency in 3D modeling and GD&T standards will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of our designs, ultimately helping us deliver top-notch solutions to our clients.

Minimum Qualifications:

- High school graduation or its equivalent plus a minimum of three years of related technical experience, is required. Formal technical training beyond high school can be substituted for two years of related experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant CAD design experience.
- Proficiency in CAD software, particularly 3D modeling (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Familiarity with GD&T standards (ASME Y14.5) and their practical application.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to precision.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience in new product development, reverse engineering, and sustaining engineering is a plus.
- Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. Federal government, candidates for the position must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

- Associates Degree in CAD or a related field or CAD certification.
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience creating and optimizing designs for all stages of product development from concept to manufacturing.
- 3+ years Demonstrated experience with design for manufacturing, assembly, service, and performance.
- 3+ years Demonstrated experience with GD&T principles to define the form, fit, and function of parts and assemblies.
- 2+ years experience interpreting design requirements and apply them to component, assembly, and system design.
- 1+ years experience in tolerance stack-up analyses.
- 1+ years experience in design reviews, manufacturability assessments, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), and other design process activates.
- Ability to generate comprehensive engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and technical reports.
