Specific Work Duties Assigned are:

  • Serve as academic support coach contact for the Tiger Trailblazer student cohorts.
  • Advise and maintain a full caseload of students for tutorial services as they persist and graduate.
  • Meet with assigned students based on early alerts.
  • Provide weekly reports as requested.
  • Meet performance metrics as identified by Director.

This position is contingent on successful attainment of the following goals:


1. Ensure that students who are registered in the Tiger Trailblazer program persist and access tutorial support services based on early alerts and assigned cohorts.
2. Provide solutions for the most significant barrier(s) to persistence and degree completion.
3. Collaborate effectively with CAASS staff and Director to reach performance targets that are in alignment with Student Success.

This is a part-time, twelve-month state funded position, which reports to the Director for Academic Advising & Student Success. The Student Success Coach coordinates the overall experience for the Tiger-Trailblazer students on Atlanta Metropolitan State College or the Savannah State University campus. The position provides hands-on support to students and coordination of student success activities. The position will focus on the retention of Tiger-Trailblazer students through holistic individual support and student success programming that connects students with appropriate tutorials in order to achieve success as they matriculate. The Student Success Coach primary function and majority of time is spent providing academic intervention for student success. Coaches in this classification must possess communication and public relations skills as they are required to interact continually with students, parents and the public.

This Academic Success Coach will be responsible for providing exceptional work ethic within the Division of Student Success, CAASS Office. Essential duties and responsibilities are listed below but not limited to the following:

  • Provides academic support services, workshops, individual and/or small group consultative services designed to assist students with developing and implementing tools to succeed academically.
  •  Provide academic coaching, outreach efforts to students who have been identified within a special population (i.e. cohort-partnership groups, at-risk, or academic warning).
  •  Identify academic support resources for improving students achievement and persistence.
  •  Work closely with Academic Success Professional Advisors with students who have received an academic alert referral and in academic jeopardy.
  • Academic Success Coach will assist and connect students with discipline specific study materials to achieve academic success.
     

 Academic Success Coach in this classification must possess effective communication, and public relations skills, as they are required to interact continually with students. In addition, the Academic Success Coach will adhere to strict confidentiality and other ethical standards.

Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution (Masters preferred) and at least one year of experience working with undergraduate students or young adults in a tutorial, coaching, academic, retention, or career services counseling capacity at a high school level or in a higher education support setting. Demonstrated experience or interest in helping students transfer into and out of bachelor-level degree granting programs. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
