Job Summary

The responsibilities of an assistant athletic trainer include providing athletic training services and assistance for assigned athletic teams in a Division I program, including but not limited to evaluating injuries/illnesses, providing safe and effective treatments for injuries/illnesses, making referrals for athletes to other health care professionals as needed, communicating with coaches regarding the health status and limitations of athletes, counseling with athletes and parents regarding their health status and treatment options, and maintaining accurate records of injuries, illnesses, treatments and referrals.

We are looking for someone who has athletic training experience and a national athletic certification by the National Athletic Trainers¿ Association Board of Certification. We will require a NATA certification to be completed within first six months of hire.

What You'd Be Responsible For

  • Evaluate injuries/illnesses for assigned athletic teams 
  • Provide safe and effective treatments for injuries and illnesses within the certified athletic trainer's scope of practice and within the guidelines of sound medical practice.  
  • Make referrals for athletes to other health care professionals as needed. 
  • Communicate with coaches regarding the health status and limitations of athletes. 
  • Counsel with athletes and parents regarding their health status and options available for treatment. 
  • Maintain accurate records of injuries, illnesses, treatments, and referrals.

What Qualifies You to Apply?

Required:

  • Master's degree in an applicable field (Must have required degree by start date)
  • Willingness to uphold and live by the university's Honor Code
  • All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend, which may be verified during the application process.
