Customer Service

The IT department is looking for someone who can multi-task, focus on details, enjoys working with others, communicates professionally, is a team player and self-motivated. They will be facilitating the process of purchasing or renewing software licenses for the campus.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with management of software lifecycles for campus. Obtain software asset(s) media, licenses, and keys. Provision assets to appropriate directories. Update data management system, issue tickets with deployment information and provide notification of receipt
  • Preform data management and reporting. Update appropriate data storage source with new or changing asset information that is required for various reporting needs. This includes renewal dates, vendor, serial number, equipment specification data, owner, funding source, etc.
  • Procure assets following system and campus policies including BPM 12004, security, and legal review when required, procurement policies and procedures (bids, sole justifications, proper purchasing mechanism, etc.)
  • Asset with campus billing for licensing costs
  • Process journal entries for campus departmental purchases of software through PeopleSoft Finance module
  • Manage tickets properly communicate with customers and other IT teams to fulfill service requests, including but not limited to exchanging emails with relevant information regarding the request in a professional manner, setting pending status and follow up dates when required, and transferring ticket to appropriate team when responsibilities are completed
  • Professional communication skills are required in email, phone, ticket, and messaging
  • Foster positive work relations with not only campus faculty, staff and students, eProcurement, UM legal, Risk Management, but also account representatives and vendors to provide effective vendor management, including requesting quotes, bids, ETA’s and legal change requests to agreements

An Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

  • Contract or software management experience

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $17.30 to $22.24 hourly.


Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
