Position Summary
The Finance & Research Administration Operations Specialist will provide business, fiscal and administrative support for RENCI’s Finance & Research Administration Office. This support will include financial activity for all fund types. This activity will include fund monitoring and reporting as well as auditing and compliance. This position will be responsible for developing documentation and tools used to facilitate business processes and operations. This position will be responsible for analyzing needs and ensuring that resources are developed accordingly. This position will assist in training Finance & Research Administration staff as well as all other RENCI divisions as requested by RENCI Office of Directors to ensure compliance with university, state, federal and agency guidelines/regulations/laws.  Professional technical knowledge and analytical skills will assure that goals and outcomes are provided with effective support.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Business and Records Administration Ability to manage well-defined business functions for a department unit or an organization. 
- Ability to collect and analyze information and prepare reports.
- Ability to apply policies and procedures related to business practices and internal control procedure.
- Financial Management Ability to monitor and maintain the financial resources of the organization to meet organizational objectives and compliance. 
- Ability to participate in allocating resources, planning, procurement, and oversight of budgets and contracts to ensure fiscal stability of the unit.
- Information Processing and Decision-Making Ability to identify, recognize, and resolve problems that have established precedents and limited impact. 
- Ability to compile, organize, and analyze financial information and other data. Ability to review, examine, and prepare documents.
- Communication Ability to explain and interpret programs, policies, and procedures using standard formats. 
- Ability to advise others in most matters related to program operations. Ability to communicate factual information, general guidelines, and standard procedures.
- Planning and Organizing Work/Supervision Ability to plan and facilitate the activities of the work units.
- Thorough understanding of how to interpret regulations and guidelines from a wide variety of funding agencies and ability to use the funding mechanism required by those agencies.
- Experience with creating spreadsheets and developing formulas in Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Must be highly organized and be able to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Must be able to function independently.
- Multi-tasking while maintaining accuracy required. 
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Knowledge of creating spreadsheets and developing formulas in Excel.
- Ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a wider range of people including University administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
- Possess intermediate analytical thinking and decision making skills.
- Communicate obstacles and solutions clearly and concisely.
