Position Summary
The Business Services Coordinatort will provide efficient administrative support to the faculty within the UNC Department of Medicine This role will also play a crucial role in the program coordination within the UNC Blood Research Center daily operations. The UPS primary function will be supporting two high level faculty and their laboratories. This position will perform various administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations and support the department’s mission. Position duties include, but are not limited to, managing calendars, planning meetings and events, coordinating travel arrangements, maintaining records and files, and processing departmental correspondence. They will also assist in budget monitoring, procurement activities, and data management, social media, website maintenance and event coordinating. This employee will interact with staff, trainees, faculty from other departments, and external stakeholders, demonstrating excellent communication and written skills. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
The UNC BRC develops and supports an array of outstanding basic research scientists. We will provide infrastructure and opportunities for collaboration among disciplines throughout and beyond our University to support outstanding research. We will foster programs in the areas of basic and translational research.
This person will be responsible for supporting the planning of projects as well as the development and implementation. This position will work closely with the program director, investigators, faculty, and staff.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Candidates must demonstrate previous work experience coordinating competing priorities. Necessary requirements are organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion. Candidates are expected to exhibit professional interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written. Candidates must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with all peers, program related personnel and faculty, demonstrating initiative, and remaining calm under pressure. Experience in project management, operations management, or program coordination.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Candidates should have experience providing administrative support in a professional office environment, planning meetings, managing calendars, problem solving and working in a team environment. The position requires experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
