Position Summary
Flexible work arrangements, including virtual/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine’s Working Forward initiative. As such, this position’s work location is designated as hybrid. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit’s business needs. Provides administrative support to three of the Statewide Associate Directors. Assists with specific program/project area needs to progress workflows and provide service to statewide stakeholders. Serves as the primary support person responsible for planning meetings, handling meeting logistics and preparing agendas and minutes. Serves as coordinator of support for special projects. Work strategically and independently with the Director of Finance & Administration to communicate and implement the direction and mission of the Department; ensures Office continuity and institutional memory. Provide executive expertise needed to coordinate, improve, and oversee the overall functioning of the office. 
This position is also responsible for the daily transactions, cost accounting and budget transactions associated with the NC AHEC Program Office funds, having a budget of approximately $90 million. This position will work specifically on the Contracts & Grants associated with AHEC. Responsibilities will include managing resources, recording data in existing spreadsheets and databases, creating new shared documents when the business need presents itself. Accountants will be expected to use good practices in GAAP and GASB to ensure that the NC AHEC as a federation is fiscally responsible.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Effectively convey information to audiences with varying levels of responsibility verbally and in writing.
Ability to perform moderately complex procedures using basic analytic ability.
Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Self-motivated and task-driven.
Demonstrated ability to compile and/or work with complex financial statements and reports using industry standard programs and software.
Ability to serve as an advisor or consultant on the fund source, allowable expenses, and general knowledge of GASB and GAAP.
Analyze and evaluate patterns in financial data, create reporting tools and design financial models.
Ability to manage scheduling using multiple staff calendars.
Recommend changes or improvements based on financial data available without prompting.
Ability to observe, monitor, collect, and record fiscal data. 
Ability to assess the accuracy, validity, and integrity of data. 
Ability to manage resources, monitor activities, and assess risks and quality control associated with our multi-level operation.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience working in a college or university setting. Prefer candidates who have provided direct support to executive-level staff previously. Prefer experience using an ERP similar to PeopleSoft or Oracle. Prefer experience creating reports in a system such as Tableaux. Advanced Excel skills preferred. Prefer candidates with previous experience at state-supported higher education institution.
