Business Operations Specialist - Travel Accounting

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Business Operations Specialist - Travel Accounting on the Gainesville campus. This position has two primary responsibilities: processing travel reimbursement requests and providing customer service to UNG Gainesville Business Office customers.  This position audits travel reimbursement requests to ensure all necessary receipts and other required documentation are provided in a timely manner, reimbursements are appropriate and allowable, and cash advances are reconciled on an ongoing basis. The position will answer questions and provide information to the campus community regarding travel guidelines based on University and State of Georgia travel policies. This position also collaborates with the Administrative Support Manager - Travel for the preparation of the annual Transparency in Government Act (TIGA) report, and other applicable reports as assigned. This position is responsible for greeting guests, directing traffic to various buildings and offices on the Gainesville Campus, answering general questions and phone calls regarding payments, charges, and balances owed; receiving and processing payments and deposits from students and other departments;  maintaining and balancing a cash box at the Gainesville Campus Business Office. The work balance between travel audits and assisting customers will vary based on student fee payment deadlines.

  • Audits travel reimbursement requests, verifying that all required documentation has been submitted timely, all requested reimbursements are allowable, appropriate and accurately calculated.
  • Provide customer service at the Business Office window, including answering questions in-person and via phone. Perform cashier function to receive payments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. 
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft or Banner preferred. 
  • Excellent customer service skills via email, phone, and in-person conversation, and ability to work collaboratively with a team required. 
  • Attention to detail is critical. 
  • May require travel for training purposes and for occasional backup cashier duties at other campuses. Campuses are located in Dahlonega, Cumming, Gainesville and Oconee.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two (2) years of experience in an office setting.
  • Experience preferred in customer service, bookkeeping, cashiering, etc.

Minimum starting salary: $19.72 per hour
