Business Operations Manager
Job Description
Arizona PBS, under Executive Administration, is seeking a highly motivated and engaging Business Operations Manager (BOM) to coordinate business operations in a fast-paced and complex department. This position manages a broad range of responsibilities with a strong focus on AP, AR, and Travel processing with multiple departments within Arizona PBS.
Ideal candidates have a keen eye for detail and accuracy, strong understanding of financial practices, exemplary customer service skills including a collaborative approach with partners, experience managing confidential and sensitive information, and value continuous process improvement.

Salary Range
$60,000 - $70,000 per year; DOE
Essential Duties
- Process or approve unique university expenditure/travel reimbursements in accordance with established travel and financial policies; provide timely and courteous travel/expenditure trouble-shooting support and training to staff.
- Supervise business operations personnel by organizing workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.
- Serve as the business office liaison, partnering to facilitate proper handling of financial and transactions, approve transactions within designated limits, review charges for compliance with FCC, CPB, ASU and sponsoring agency/contract conditions and requirements ensuring expenses are allowable on funding source and appropriate backup documentation is secured.
- Work closely with director as a knowledgeable resource regarding FCC, CPB, ASU financial compliance policy and procedures; maintain exceptional knowledge of these practices and policies to provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage a variety of account expenditures; review documentation for accuracy and compliance; maintain and reconcile detailed budgets for various accounts; advise and/or determine which expenditures are within the budget guidelines; inform management of irregularities and proceed with corrective action.
- Prepare a variety of procurement-related documents exercising discretion and independent judgement and in accordance with ASU policies including statements of work, MOUs, informal quote summaries, independent contract checklists, speaker agreement forms, expense reimbursement forms, and other document development as requested.
- Respond to inquiries in a timely manner using effective interpersonal communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and methods as appropriate to address questions and/or concerns.
- Organize and/or prepare departmental monthly reconciliation financial reports; analyze, summarize, and interpret information; recommend action to be taken for departments.
- Work under deadlines, manage multiple responsibilities and duties, while navigating interruptions and unclear and/or changing situations.
- Coordinate or assume other duties or projects as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and six (6) years of directly related administrative experience which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Ten (10) years of directly related administrative experience which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience using ASU enterprise systems including Peoplesoft for HR and Workday for financial, budgeting and forecasting; PaymentNet for P-Card; Concur for travel.
- Experience with accounting, purchasing cards, and budgeting practices and principles.
- Experience with managing business operations staff.
- Experience being a problem-solver who takes initiative, manages workloads effectively, and sets priorities while being flexible.
- Experience in building strong relationships and ability to influence without authority.
- Evidence of strong attention to detail.
- Experience working successfully in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, both independently and as a member of a team.
Working Environment
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting, subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
- Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or subject to resolution of conflicts.
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
- Use of critical thinking to make decisions and/or analyze and report data/results.
- Infrequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
- Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.

Flexible Work Options
This position is eligible for Hybrid work—an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location.
