Advertised Job Summary
The Enrollment Management Central Office (EMCO) Coordinator is responsible for supporting business and human resource needs for the seven departments within Enrollment Management: Admissions, Enrollment Data Analytics, Financial Aid, New Student Orientation, Registrar, TRIO programs, and the Visitor Center.
The Coordinator processes and submits staff requests for Payment Requests, Purchase Orders, Travel Authorizations and Expense Reports. They also assist with student hires, I-9 verifications, background checks, temp hires, and position description modifications as needed.
The EMCO Coordinator is an entry-level position perfect for professionals who are just starting out or who are simply looking to switch career paths. We are seeking a team player who has great attention to detail, is intrinsically motivated, and is ready to learn! We offer a balanced and supportive team atmosphere. We would love to consider applicants who have experience in the areas of human resources, purchasing and/or accounts payable, but that is not a requirement. Training will be provided.
The EMCO Coordinator must ensure compliance with university and state policies and procedures for activities related to purchasing, HR, and travel, and also provide accurate and appropriate information to staff members and other internal constituents (e.g. Purchasing Department, Controller’s Office, HR) as needed.

Provide support for purchasing within the unit of Enrollment Management (Admissions, Visitor’s Center, Enrollment Data Analytics, Financial Aid, and New Student Orientation with occasional assistance to TRIO and Registrar). Ensure that offices are in compliance with all related policies and procedures. As assigned, timely process, review, and submit staff requests for Payment Requests and Purchase Orders. Serve as a purchasing card holder for department purchases. Timely notify supervisor of problems or concerns with purchasing activity. Maintains confidentiality for all transactions and submissions. Assist as needed and directed by the Assistant Director of Business Operations.

Provide support for travel functions within the unit of Enrollment Management (Admissions, Visitor’s Center, Enrollment Data Analytics, Financial Aid, and New Student Orientation with occasional assistance to TRIO and Registrar). Ensure that offices are in compliance with all related policies and procedures. As assigned, timely process, review, and submit staff requests for Travel Authorizations and Expense Reports. Serve as a travel card holder for department purchases. Timely notify supervisor of problems or concerns with travel activity. Maintains confidentiality for all transactions and submissions.

Provide support for personnel functions for the offices within the unit of Enrollment Management (Admissions, Visitor Center, Enrollment Data Analytics, Financial Aid, and New Student Orientation with occasional assistance to TRIO and Registrar). Follow HR policies and procedures to timely and accurately assist with completing actions such as student hires, I-9 verifications, background checks, temp hires, and position description modifications as needed. Assist in maintaining personnel files. Maintains confidentiality for all transactions and submissions. Assist as needed and directed by the Assistant Director(s) of HR.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and no prior work experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior work experience, particularly in college or university business office settings, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of University of South Carolina policies, procedures, financial systems, and HR systems is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to maintain confidential information are required. Must be sensitive to the private nature of personnel and financial information.
  • Considerable computer mastery with specific knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat is essential.
  • Must demonstrate strong analytical skills, the capacity to learn web-based financial and HR systems, and the ability to correctly interpret USC policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to establish and sustain positive working relationships with staff, co-workers, and other internal constituents across campus.
  • Must be able to manage sensitive personnel and financial situations and information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately manage time and prioritize tasks is required.
  • Must be able to manage multiple concurrent tasks of a varied nature.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work independently with little direction as well as collaboratively within a team.
