Business Intelligence and Analytics Specialist II

The Opportunity:

The Business Intelligence and Analytics Specialist II works in the Graduate and Research Information Technology (GRIT) office to assist with the enterprise business intelligence for the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) and the Office of Research to help stakeholders improve business decisions. This position provides enterprise coding, development, and support on data logic and structures from various data sources/systems, performs deep dive data analysis and visualization, and serves as the subject matter expert for GRIT business-related data.

Responsibilities:

  • Strong functional data knowledge to support GRIT business units by knowing what data is available, and how to best source that data.

  • Design, develop, maintain, and analyze a suite of Business Intelligence Reports & Services. Includes any ad hoc report requests.

  • Use SQL, SSIS, SAS, SSRS, Power Bl, and other available reporting, data retrieval tools, and data analytics tools.

  • Debug and fix all data-related issues.

  • Support connected data sources and systems, including Peoplesoft, Slate, GFS, Huron, Argis, Aurora, etc.

  • Provide help with technical support for the database servers including security, maintenance, upgrades, backup, recovery, and optimization.

  • Provide help with technical support and training to GRIT, as well as other departments that require the use of online systems, such as student & research databases, reporting tools, and PeopleSoft database.

  • Ensure proper documentation for business intelligence procedures and practices.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 6 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to develop SQL stored procedures, functions, views, tables, indexes, etc., preferably using Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Management Studio.

  • Experience developing, modifying, or managing Business Intelligence and Analytics tools such as Microsoft Reporting Services, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, etc.

  • Experience working on large data analysis projects.

  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision.
