Position Summary/Purpose of Position: | The Business Services Specialist reports to the Director of Finance and supports the staff, faculty, students, and constituents of various units of the School of Public Policy by processing the day to day business transactions across all funding sources within applicable University, School & Sponsor policies, procedures and guidelines. Examples of business transactions include, but are not limited to, payroll actions, reimbursements, travel requests, procurement, fund transfers, Foundation disbursement requests, Student Award disbursements, deposits, etc. Encumber expenses in various School financial systems. Other duties as assigned. This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule. We are seeking a candidate who is customer service oriented, organized and detail oriented, able to work within deadlines and who will work well in a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate has the ability to assimilate data, communicate effectively and exercise sound judgment and discretion. As a member of the School of Public Policy’s staff, this position will serve on shared governance committees per the School’s Plan of Organization. |
Minimum Qualifications: | Education: High School Diploma or GED. Experience: Six years progressively responsible experience in a combination of budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and personnel work. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience. |
