The Opportunity:

The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Medicine (COM) is seeking well-qualified candidates for a Business Data Analyst I position. The Business Data Analyst I position will support 1st and 2nd-year medical students with their research in the Focused Inquiry Research Experience (F.I.R.E.) module. Additionally, this position will support faculty with their research. This position will assist with duties related to both research design and statistical analysis of results.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise in research design and methodology, including instruction on statistical tests specific to a project.

  • Utilize effective communication skills to assist students with IRB protocol development, implementation, and management, including statistical and power analyses, advising on how to appropriately modify the Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol and update approvals, and providing proper ethical guidance on this as needed.

  • Advise in data collection, processing, and management strategies, including instruction on how to use survey programs (e.g., Qualtrics and RedCap), and set up data files in Excel for later import into statistical software. Guide students on how to conduct data analyses using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), R, and/or other relevant statistical software as appropriate.

  • Advise interpreting and reporting results in written and graphic format.

  • Assist with the organization, coordination, and implementation of student research conferences, including tabulating and calculating student scores/awards, etc.

  • Assist with psychometric analysis to ensure validity, reliability, and fairness of assessments.

  • Other duties as assigned (examples include participating in team meetings, proctoring exams, assisting with the administration of curricular activities, and timely completion of all required university and college training and updates).

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS, or BS with 2 years of relevant experience in the areas of biostatistics, epidemiology, data analytics, and/or related areas.

  • Basic working knowledge of biostatistics with associated computational skills (proficiency with XL and SPSS).

  • Excellent people skills and be able to work effectively with medical students, doctors, and staff on a regular basis.

  • Computer programming and big data analytic skills including R, Python, and /or other languages.

  • Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence methods applicable to medical research.

  • Experience with meta-analyses and/or systematic reviews.
