PURPOSE

The Business Coordinator I, under general supervision, provides support and coordination of a variety of business activities especially related to HR, requiring independent judgment, including reviewing business documents and assisting in developing, monitoring, and reporting accounts and budget data as directed by supervisor.

DESCRIPTION

Functional Area 1: Support

Percent Effort: 60

Job Duties

  • Prepare and route hiring and personnel changes in Workday.

  • Serve as a liaison with human resources financial, payroll, and research office.

  • Backup coordinate travel for all HRI staff, students, and executive management as requested. Including but not limited to routing requests, booking travel, routing expense reports, and facilitating changes, and delivering keys for rental cars.

  • Assist in planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring of human resources and payroll for the institute.

  • Back up to purchasing and procurement card reconciliation.

  • Participates in the training of business staff and/or student workers and may provide supervision. Trains staff on new and existing business procedures and interprets policies and regulations for staff.

  • Schedule and complete HRI on/off boarding duties.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Functional Area 2: Research

Percent Effort: 40

Job Duties

  • Assist in allocating payroll to grant accounts in accordance with time and effort.

  • Prepare and submit tuition payment request for grant and department accounts each semester.

  • Assist and prepare monthly summaries for Senior Executive Director, HRI Chairs, and Senior Staff as needed.

  • Monitor accounts monthly for errors and route corrective actions for approval as needed.

  • Review accounts for cleanup and removal as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field.

  • Two (2) years related experience.

  • Additional experience may be used as a substitution for the minimum education requirements:

    • High school diploma or GED and six (6) years of related experience.

    • Associates degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience.

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Detail oriented and have excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with Workday, FAMIS/Canopy, Concur, Argos, and Laserfische  

  • Working knowledge and/or experience of TAMUCC/State/Governmental accounting and administrative procedures.

  • Experience with Uniform Guidance.

NOTE: This is a grant funded position and is contingent upon funding.

SALARY: $45,184 - $51,790 Annually Approx.

  • $3,765.33- $4,315.83 Monthly Approx.
