Job Summary:

The Business and Administrative Professional provides professional and operational support to the newly established Center for Health Equity. The mission of this community-engaged Center is to advance community health, wealth, and well-being by dismantling racism, oppression, and other systemic drivers of inequity to create equitable opportunities through learning, service, research, and advocacy. This position will oversee the functionality of daily administrative and business tasks for the Center and requires considerable organization, focus, analytical, and technical skills. Responsible for assisting with the reporting and budgeting for all programs, projects, and events and troubleshooting complications as they arise. In addition, this position requires a working knowledge of all current University policies that are relevant to business services which may include, but not be limited to procurement, human resources, budget, events, and travel. This position may provide supervision to student workers. This position will provide administrative support to the Executive Director and assist in the development and implementation of the center’s mission and goals. The position possesses project management skills, effective analytical and problem-solving skills; works well under pressure and ability to handle complex and concurrent tasks. Other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages the Executive Director’s calendar and schedules meetings.
  • Executes projects assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Supports Executive Director and Center staff in all HR & Finance matters. Maintains open lines of communication among all parties.
  • Performs hiring and on-boarding functions for the Center. This includes both HCM HR and logistics.
  • Performs procurement functions including travel card, procurement card, purchase orders and associated budget management (speed type audits/reports, allowable expenditures, etc.) for Office as needed.
  • Assists with tasks related to the planning and organization of the Center committee meetings and events. Providing risk management support by monitoring event compliance, University guidelines, ADA considerations, Fire Code, etc.

Work Location:

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This is hybrid work schedule which consists of 2 days per week on campus and as-needed for in-person meetings.
  • The individual in this role may require a flexible schedule to accommodate evenings, weekend and events/meetings, etc.
  • May require occasional travel within the state.
  • This position also requires the ability to build partnerships with diverse communities and individuals who provide essential services.
  • Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of professional experience working in a higher education setting or in a business administrative role.
  • Experience using MS Word, Excel, Teams, Project, etc.
  • Preferred experience will include developing reports, spreadsheets, and databases using the mentioned software programs.
  • Experience supporting a program (academic, non-profit, DEI, etc.).
  • Experience with purchasing, fiscal/financial oversight, or accounting.
  • Experience working with an HR or Finance system (ex. Oracle/PeopleSoft HCM or FIS).
  • Experience supporting marketing or social media activities.

  • Strong data using math and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and possess excellent time management, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of professionalism, resourcefulness, tact, and diplomacy are essential.
  • Ability to organize workload and file correctly by alphabetical and numerical order.
  • Ability to understand complex rules, workflows, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ability to listen and follow precise protocols and written instructions. ‘
  • Must possess a professional demeanor and have experience that demonstrates problem solving.
  • Ability to take direction and use independent judgment to coordinate and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely fashion and work independently with minimal supervision.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range for this position has been established as $49,974 - $55,000.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is eligible for overtime compensation.
