Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The Business Analyst will provide a variety of information technology services in support of alumni and development activities throughout the University. This position will assist in relationship management and application consultation while focusing mostly on reporting and data services for their assigned client portfolio.
The Business Analyst’s primary focus will be to provide functional and technical support to our customers while responding to reporting and data services requests. This will entail a detailed analysis of the requirements in addition to the delivery of creative solutions, including but not limited to, query creation, custom reporting writing, data extracts, defining database modifications, and data transformations. A high-level of quality control is necessary to ensure the accuracy of said reports and data extracts. This position will also be a member of the helpdesk team and escalate issues to the technical team(s) as appropriate.
This position will also serve as a liaison between the customer and the programming staff while delivering high-quality consulting/training sessions to the user-community, developing courseware, training, enhancements, and customizations to the advancement applications.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master’s and 1-2 years’ experience; or Bachelors and 2-4 years’ experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Applicant must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with an ability to effectively communicate with technical and nontechnical personnel at various levels within the organization. 
Applicant should be comfortable presenting to groups as a lead and/or comfortable delivering training content in a classroom or virtual classroom setting.
Ability to analyze requests, issues, and problems in order to resolve issues and develop solutions. Must be able to apply critical thinking and be resourceful in developing solutions and/or escalating issues.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The ideal candidate should have experience with Blackbaud software products, CRM preferred and be a forward thinker. A broad knowledge of Alumni and Development operations, in a large university or experience in a non-profit fundraising office is strongly preferred. Experience in developing detailed plans while translating user requirements into technical specifications.
Experience working within a helpdesk or workflow ticketing system is desirable. 
Experience with Microsoft Access or other relational database tools is also a plus.
