Special Assignments | May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. |
KSA's/Required Qualifications | Considerable knowledge of physical plant operation, maintenance and in methods of construction. Working knowledge of accepted safety procedure and OSHA requirements in all areas of maintenance and facilities operation. General knowledge of the various trades. Demonstrated ability to work from plans for improvement or alteration of buildings and equipment; and to resolve complex trade problems and to recommend improved methods. Demonstrated ability to plan, assign, supervise, and evaluate the work of a varied group of skilled and semi-skilled workers, and serve as a resource to others. Demonstrated ability to read, understand and interpret various policies, procedures and blueprints; ability to communicate effectively with all types of customers, both orally and in writing; and to use a personal computer with current software. Strong administrative skills to include budgeting, project planning, work scheduling and personnel management. An appropriate license or combination of licenses in one or more of the following: Master HVAC, Master HVAC/Gas Fitter, Master Plumber, or Master Electrician is required. |
Additional Considerations | Considerable supervisory experience in one or more of the building trades. Master-level knowledge in at least two basic trades related to maintenance, i.e. HVAC, electrical and plumbing. Inspection certifications in at least three areas of safe work practices and procedures (asbestos, lockout/tag out, etc.) or achievement within 1 year of employment. Valid Virginia’s driver’s license. |
