The purpose of this position, Budget/Fiscal Analyst Lead (E S SEIU 925 Non Supv), is to analyze, organize and manage the post-award financial and business operations for Hematology Program in the Division of Hematology and Oncology. Position responsibilities are specific to the Program’s clinical trials that are conducted at both the UW Medical Center (UWMC) and ancillary sites such as the Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders (WACBD).  Functional areas include but are not limited to: Program funding analysis, work-flow analysis, and Program revenue projections. Successful performance in this position will require a strong partnership with faculty and staff, both within and external to the program.

Position Complexities
The University of Washington's Division of Hematology and Oncology includes over 400 faculty and 250 staff members primarily located at the UW Medical Center (UWMC), Harborview Medical Center (HMC), Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (FHCC), VA Puget Sound Health Care System, and the UW Medicine South Lake Union Campus (SLU). Over the past 25 years, members of the Division have developed the world's leading bone marrow transplant program. Additionally, members of the Division have made substantial contributions to many other areas of cancer treatment, including the use of tumor vaccines, cellular therapy for cancer, antibody-based treatments, and novel forms of chemotherapy and hormonal therapy. Our Division is deeply committed to maintaining its position as one of the leading centers for research and treatment of cancer in the world.

The Division of Hematology and Oncology has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Budget Fiscal/Analyst Lead based on the University of Washington campus.  This position reports to the Division Co-Administrator.

This position will provide strategic and tactical support for the Hematology Program through financial review and forecasting, budget development, business processes evaluation, process improvement recommendations, as part of managing the Program’s UW- and WACBD-based clinical trial post-award budget portfolio.  The Program’s budget portfolio includes both investigator-initiated and sponsored trials.  As such, this position is required to continuously analyze and integrate information from multiple sources to ensure that all financial data meet compliance requirements as specified by the University, external agencies, institutions, and industry.

This position is required to use critical thinking, independent judgement and knowledge of the academic clinical trial business process to effectively facilitate work-flow and promote a collaborative work environment.  This position will maintain dynamic communication with the study investigators, research staff, and numerous University departments in coordinating efforts across multiple program partners, such as Bloodworks NW and the Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders (WACBD), to ensure all post-award aspects of the program’s clinical research studies are compliant and financially sound. 

Job performance is evaluated in terms of collaborative ability, productivity, appropriateness and effectiveness of decision making, and overall success of the Hematology Program’s post-award operations. The successful candidate will be expected to immediately to immerse themselves in the financial and programmatic aspects of the position.  Training in UW systems will be provided if necessary, but the candidate is expected to come to the position with relevant education, experience, ability and desire to perform the duties listed below.
