Job Description:

Join our dynamic team at The College of Human Sciences, Iowa State University, as a Budget and Finance Specialist II. We are seeking a candidate that has a passion for finance, strong analytical skills, and a desire to contribute to the success of our college,

We are looking for a talented individual to join our administrative unit and collaborate with faculty and staff across our five academic units: Apparel, Events and Hospitality Management, Food Sciences and Human Nutrition, Human Development and Family Studies, Kinesiology, and the School of Education.

As a Budget and Finance Specialist II, you will play a crucial role in our financial operations, providing analytical support, advising on budgetary matters, and assisting in the preparation and review of operational budgets.

You'll work closely with departmental leadership, compile essential data, and prepare insightful reports to guide decision-making at all levels of our college operations.

Example of Duties:

Provide analytical support for routine budget projects.

Meet regularly with academic unit leadership to advise on budgetary implications.

Assist in preparing operational budgets for departments, ensuring expenditure compliance.

Compile data and prepare comprehensive reports.

Collaborate with major department managers on budget projects.

Prepare monthly reports to compare actuals with budget forecasts.

Analyze college expenses and revenue plans to ensure financial health.


Level Guidelines
• Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
• Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
• Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests
• May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff
• May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
