The Departments of Economics and History are teaching and research units within the College of Letters & Science. The Blue Cluster provides administrative support for instructional and research activities to the following programs: Department of Economics, Department of History, Military Science, East Asian Studies, The Hemispheric Institute on the Americas, Jewish Studies, History Project, California Social Science History Project, the Center for Poverty Research. Studies, Jewish Studies, and Military Science. The Cluster serves over 60 faculty FTE, 10 non-senate faculty FTE, 100+ non senate academic employees of varying titles (Graduate Student Researchers, Teaching Assistants, Visiting Scholars, Postdoctoral Scholars, lecturers), 150+ graduate students, 2400+ undergraduate majors, and 16 staff FTE.



Job Summary

Under general supervision of the HR Supervisor, the Academic & Staff Personnel Coordinator provides analytical and administrative support on all actions pertaining to academic personnel in the Blue Cluster. Serve as primary resource and contract for academic personnel policy and practice to ensure compliance with University policy and procedures. Assist will all aspects of the annual academic review process; analyzes, reviews, and prepares actions including appointments, merits, promotions, appraisals, leaves, changes in status, salary adjustments, appeals and visas. Provide administrative and analytical support for the recruitment process for non-senate academic positions, and serve as a resource, providing advice, interpretation, and guidance regarding academic personnel issues for chairs, directors, faculty, managers and staff. Responsible for providing financial analysis for new and continuing academics as well as providing administrative support on various projects for the Chairs, Directors and CAO.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

·       Experience interpreting and applying academic personnel policy and procedures in a higher education setting.

·       Experience utilizing standard business software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic Accounting and Academic Personnel Systems.

·       Experience managing projects and multiple tasks including planning and coordinating assignments, adapting to changing priorities, meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

·       Knowledge of academic personnel and financial administration.

·       Writing and oral communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of campus management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:   

·       Knowledge of and experience with MyInfoVault, KFS, UC Path, RECRUIT and OATS.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

·       Knowledge of UCD Academic Personnel Manual. Knowledge of Unit 18 MOU.

·       Communication, customer service and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and others.
