Department Description


The UC Davis School of Law is consistently ranked among the premier law schools in the United States overall and in terms of faculty and student quality and diversity. The school has nearly 600 Juris Doctor (JD) students enrolled in the full-time 3-year program, as well as a LL.M Program, certificates in Public Service Law, Business Law, Criminal Law, Environmental Law, Immigration Law, Intellectual Property Law and Tax Law, and Joint Degree programs, including JD/MBA, and JD/MA.
The budget for the Law School exceeds $40 million including state funds, tuition and professional fee revenue, gifts, and endowments. Current market value of endowments exceeds $12 million. School facilities include 60,000 square feet in 3 buildings. The School has 40 active faculty and more than 100 staff.

 

Job Summary

Under supervision of the Financial Services Director, act as part of a team of five to provide highly technical financial and purchasing/account support to the programs, projects, and units in the School of Law. Act as main point of contact to provide purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel and entertainment expense reimbursement, equipment inventory, mail/receiving, and other business office services.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position may be eligible for a hybrid/remote, 2-3 days in the office.
  • Work in a shared office with interruptions from traffic, conversations, and office equipment, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Experience using automated financial systems to perform general accounting transactions, entertainment, travel, honorarium, check request processing and other business transactions.
  • Experience with various computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Google search engines, Deskpro, Zoom, etc.) for word processing, spreadsheet, email, internet, calendaring/scheduling software, newsletters, customer support requests management, and meetings.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Knowledge of fundamental business practices and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Analytical and mathematical skills to identify/research/resolve accounting problems, to analyze and prepare reports, and to review and reconcile departmental records/ledgers.
  • Writing, editing and proofreading skills to compose and prepare business correspondence, forms, and reports with attention to detail.
  • Organizational skills to establish and prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:             

  • Experience working with a variety of UC Davis computerized programs, including Oracle, Aggie Enterprise and Aggie Expense.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures pertaining to all UC Business transactions and accounting.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a diverse community, and to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, faculty, administrators, and visitors.
