Functions as Biostatistics Senior Consultant supporting biomedical research projects across the health science fields as a member of the Center for Biostatistics; coordinates the necessary personnel to achieve project goals; exhibits broad and unique knowledge of their specialized area(s) of collaboration and innovates creative solutions to improve processes, practices, metrics, models, or applications thereof. Leads collaboration in highly complex, potentially cross-disciplinary projects of significant scope and impact. Collaborates with study investigators in protocol development, study design, development of analysis plans, sample size/power calculations, and interpretation of study data; participates as a key contributor and co-author in preparing and submitting grants, manuscripts, and presentations. Coordinates the necessary personnel to achieve project goals. Exhibits broad and unique knowledge of their specialized area(s) of collaboration and innovates creative solutions to improve processes, practices, metrics, models, or applications. Has a prominent role in presenting and disseminating complex data results, data analysis techniques, and other research findings. Provides leadership within the Center for Biostatistics. Particular responsibilities may vary, including teaching, developing, and implementing new analytical/programming approaches, supervision, and mentorship of other junior staff scientists, statistical leadership on multi-center studies, facilitating discussions on statistical issues and potentially sensitive matters with the Center, and/or methodological research. Advises others on how to interact and communicate with investigators. Independently develops programs for general use, including statistical analyses, data cleaning, and report generation. Consults with management on determining project objectives and long-term goals, performance management activities, and preparing budgets and monitoring expenses.

Minimum Education Required

Master's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in biostatistics

Additional Education Desired

Doctoral Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in biostatistics

Required Qualifications

10 years of relevant experience is required. 12 or more years of relevant experience preferred.  Related biostatistics experience required; extensive experience managing large databases, utilizing statistical software packages, preparing grant applications, writing research papers, and consulting in a collaborative research environment strongly desired; additional coursework in epidemiology, public health, biology, or medicine is preferred.  Requires successful completion of a background check; the candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
