Posting Summary	Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Biostatistician for the department of Psychiatry at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the supervision of Dr. Jessica Salvatore, provides biostatistical and data management support for research projects. The Genes, Environment, and Neurodevelopment in Addictions (GENA) research program in the Center for Psychiatric Health and Genomics is hiring a biostatistician to support a federally funded program of research on the factors that contribute to the onset, persistence, and recovery from alcohol and substance use disorders across the lifespan. Specific lines of inquiry include geneenvironment interplay and characterizing how genetic and environmental risk factors are transmitted within families. The GENA Program, led by Jessica E. Salvatore, PhD, is a collaborative, interdisciplinary research team that includes 2 full-time faculty, 1 PhD-level research associate, graduate students, and undergraduate students. As further detailed below, the biostatistician will be responsible for data analysis and visualization for scientific publications and grant proposals, the development and maintenance of data management protocols for research studies, and related research tasks. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Performs statistical consultation and data analysis and interprets results under the supervision of the Director to support epidemiological research on alcohol and drug use disorders and related conditions. Develops, implements, and maintains data management protocols in the R and SAS computing environments (and other statistical software depending on project needs) to clean, manage, and merge multimodal data for the design and analysis of longitudinal, genetically informative studies. Assists with the preparation of data documentation and data archiving, consistent with requirements of funders. Participates in the design of electronic data capture forms to collect data. Participates in the validation and assurance of the data quality process. Participates in the application of appropriate statistical methodology in designing studies and analyzing data. Prepares drafts of analytic approach and results sections for scientific journal articles and grant proposals. Designs statistical graphs and charts and other publication-quality data visualizations to present meaningful and scientifically valid data summaries for research projects. Assists with the preparation of statistical training and instructional material.

Work Arrangement	Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience	Master’s Degree in Statistics/Biostatistics or the equivalent plus three (3) years of experience in academia, government or industry in the areas of design and analysis of epidemiological data, or a Ph.D. with a background in the areas indicated.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities	Expertise in R and SAS programming in a Unix environment necessary. Good oral and written communication skills essential.
