Job Description Summary:
The Biostatistics Center (BSC) of the Milken Institute School of Public Health is an off-campus research facility of The George Washington University located in Rockville, Maryland. The BSC serves as the coordinating center for large scale multi-center clinical trials and epidemiological studies funded by federal agencies including the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The BSC is seeking an experienced full-time Biostatistician II to work at a data coordinating center for clinical trials. A Biostatistician II participates as a member of a team of academic Biostatisticians and Epidemiologists who collaborate in the conduct of major clinical trials. Ability to utilize previous work experiences to work effectively with both creativity and latitude is expected for success in this role.
Duties most typically performed by the Biostatistician II include leveraging their relevant professional experience to the following:
- Preparing datasets for analysis, and conducting data analysis using advanced statistical procedures using SAS. Creating programming analyses related macros using SAS or R.
- Developing and maintaining reporting systems using SAS.
- Performing data analysis using advanced statistical procedures using statistical software (SAS and R) under supervision of senior staff.
- Performing data management (auditing, editing & analysis) and quality control of study databases.
- Collaborating in the development of analytical plans for addressing selected research questions.
- Documenting any new processes and procedures created in the above tasks.
- Collaborating in the design of studies and with medical investigators to implement methods in collaboration with Center faculty.
- Participating in project development from beginning to end. Participating as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of programmers and researchers to ensure deliverables are completed efficiently.
- Contributing to portions of abstracts, posters, reports and manuscripts for major publications in leading health, medical and other journals and presentations of results.
- Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold an MS or MPH degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or related field, plus 3 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience must be progressive Master’s level or equivalent experience in Statistics, biostatistics, or epidemiology. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
