The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Biology Lab Student Assistant - Institutional Student Worker. We are seeking candidates who are: reliable (maintains work schedule with few to no missed shifts); motivated to work (moves to the next task without being asked or reminded); and flexible (work priorities/tasks may change daily). The successful candidate uses appropriate safety precautions consistently (will be trained for tasks where precautions are necessary).

  • Assist with solution preparation under direct staff supervision.
  • Assist with setup/breakdown of lab experiment materials and equipment.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintenance of lab  with chemical and equipment inventory.
  • Wash lab dishes.
  • Organize and file safety data sheets for chemicals in inventory.
  • Flush emergency eye washes and emergency showers in labs.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be able to use step stools/ladders repetitively, and reach bottom shelf of cabinets repetitively.
  • Must be able to stand for various periods of time, up to one hour.
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
