Position Description
The Cui Lab for Systems Immunology research at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Harvard Medical School is looking for a bioinformatician to support ongoing research activities. The bioinformatician is responsible for analyzing high-throughput genomic and/or clinical data from various immune-mediated conditions, including oral and systemic inflammation, tumor immunity, host-pathogen interactions, and mouse models of diseases. The bioinformatician is also responsible for creating and maintaining software tools developed in the lab, and updating web portals used by the research community. The bioinformatician will work with the PI and trainees in the lab, including both computational and experimental researchers. The bioinformatician is expected to be meticulous with details, keep track of their work diligently, and regularly provide progress updates to the PI. The laboratory is located in the heart of the Longwood Academic and Medical Area in Boston, MA.
This position is a one-year term appointment from date of hire with the possibility of extension.
Basic Qualifications
- MS or PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, data science, computer science,
or a related quantitative field
- 2+ years of work experience in bioinformatics
- Proficient with the UNIX/Linux environment
- Skilled in data cleaning, wrangling, analysis, and visualization with R or Python
- Prior experience in developing and/or applying machine learning or statistical models
to analyze real-world data
- Prior experience with web development, including HTML/CSS/Javascript/RShiny
- Experience with cloud-based tools including Google Cloud
- Experience with code repository tools including GitHub
- Experience with single-cell multi-omic or microbiome analysis is a plus
- Knowledge of molecular biology or immunology is a plus
