Job Summary:

The University of Colorado, College of Nursing is seeking a Bilingual Referral Coordinator for a full-time (1.0 FTE) position within the Office of Clinical and Community Affairs at the Sheridan Health Services clinics located in the Fort Logan neighborhood of Denver, CO 80236.  The Bilingual Referral Coordinator exists to perform both referral and administrative duties. This includes a variety of clerical and patient service duties necessary to maintain efficient flow of operations in the medical office.  Additionally, the Bilingual Referral Coordinator will process referrals for patients seen in Sheridan Health Services by verifying patient insurance eligibility, communicating with nurse practitioners and physicians as needed, obtaining prior authorization or pre-certification when needed, scheduling appointments consistent with patients' insurance plans, performing any administrative work related to the referral, and tracking referrals until completion.  This position will also help patients connect with specialty care as well as access available community resources and services for both adult and pediatric populations. The Bilingual Referral Coordinator will communicate appropriate diagnostic and clinical information as needed to complete referrals in a manner appropriate to the patient's age and developmental stage.  This position will represent Sheridan Health Services professionally and positively to enhance and promote Sheridan’s mission to provide quality patient-centered care, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy and tact during patient interactions and interactions with clinical partners. Clinic Description:

Sheridan Health Services is a multi-site, nurse-managed federally qualified community health center, funded through the Health Resources and Services Administration Bureau of Primary Healthcare; and is a collaborative effort between the College of Nursing and the Sheridan School District. There are now ~45 employees at two convenient locations to serve community health needs primarily for residents of Arapahoe, Denver and Jefferson counties. A Youth Health Clinic is located in the Sheridan School District Administration building. The Family Health Clinic is located in southwest Denver on the Fort Logan campus and provides services to adults and children, 65% of whom identify at Latinx, and 42% of whom are best served in another language, with Spanish being the predominant second language. Services offered include primary care across the lifespan; prenatal and postpartum, gynecology, dentistry, pharmacy, behavioral health, and outpatient substance abuse treatment. Sheridan Health Services is a Patient-Centered Medical Home, and as such we uphold a model of care that places the patient at the center, incorporating the values and beliefs of the patient in all decision- making. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of general clerical experience. One year of this experience must have included referral coordination in a clinical setting and/or an insurance company health plan referral unit.
    • Substitution: College, university, or non-correspondence business school coursework may substitute for the technical accounting experience on a year-for-year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
  • Experience working as a Medical Assistant or Patient Navigator.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be willing and able to obtain current BLS/CPR certification by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to speak Spanish and English daily to communicate clinical terminology.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a normal patient care environment with some exposure to biological hazards and infectious diseases.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

    Anticipated Pay Range:

    The hiring range for this position has been established at $48,396 to $56,143.

    The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
