The Admissions Office at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is seeking a Bilingual Admissions Counselor (Admissions and Recruitment Coordinator II, AE084).
JOB DETAILS:
The Bilingual/Spanish Admissions Counselor assists prospective students in navigating the college selection process. This is a 12-month, full-time position that reports to the Assistant Director of Admissions and will be responsible for recruiting, admitting, and enrolling a talented student body. This position will establish and maintain relationships with prospective students, parents, and high school counselors. In addition to general admission duties, this position is responsible for developing and implementing targeted outreach efforts to students in a designated geographic territory. The individual will present information to prospective students during scheduled daily visit presentations, will assist during campus open house events, and will perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director. Domestic travel is required, especially during the fall and spring recruitment seasons.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned Bachelor's degree
- Bilingual in Spanish/English. Ability to professionally speak, read, write, and translate between languages
- Valid driver's license (or ability to obtain a valid driver's license)
- One year of experience working with students in a high school or college setting
- Strong written communication and public speaking skills
Preferred Characteristics:
- Strong organizational and event-planning skills
- Professional experience in creating inclusive environments for students
- One year of experience in admissions, recruitment, higher education, or marketing-related field
- Experience with the use of CRM (customer relationship management) systems, specifically Slate
- Familiarity with student information systems, particularly PeopleSoft
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, and faculty

- Willingness and ability to actively follow applicable safety rules and regulations, including necessary training and drills.
- Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary of $45,000.
