Coastal Carolina University invites applications for the position of Benefits Specialist for the Department of Human Resources.
Reporting to the Benefits Manager, this position will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day aspects of administering benefits and retirement; conducting new employee orientations; assisting in coordinating events for assigned areas; assisting with special projects; and performing other duties as assigned. A successful candidate must be able to correctly interpret, apply and explain state policies, procedures, regulations and statutes in timely manner.
Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and clerical or administrative experience are required. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required work experience. A valid South Carolina driver’s license is also required. Familiarity with public insurance/retirement programs is preferred. Experience in event management and publication creation is also preferred.
A successful candidate should have demonstrated proficiency in written, oral and interpersonal communications; strong computer and organizational skills; the ability to carry out sensitive assignments with absolute confidentiality and professionalism; work with a wide range of constituents and resolve problems/disputes; navigate multiple on-line systems; handle highly emotional situations tactfully; manage multiple tasks/deadlines with frequent interruptions; and maintain effective working relationships.

Human Resources Specialist (AG05/61123024/FTE-S01007P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 04. Salary range: $31,561.00 (minimum) – $44,977.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Friday, 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. Some overnight travel may be required. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with insurance and retirement programs preferred. Experience with programs such as Publisher preferred.
Licensure and/or Certification
